This page represents what we feel are some of the most cutting edge designs which could be used to adorn contempory living space, and yes you might have guessed we love the work of Phillipe Starck and Eero Saarinen.
The famous Ero chair has been featured in the brilliant television cult series the prisioner "Prisioner" and if you lucky enough to watch it on the SCI Fi channel the retro style stripes that we are now seeing in interiors look like they have come from the amazing set. The Ero chair simply the most stylist in piece of furniture you could own but as its quite pricey we may have to wait for cheaper modern day reproductions, not quite the same though is it!

This transparent polycarbonate Ero chair like the wicker ones which made their debut during the 60s are design influenced by the space age. The novely of being weightless was a new possibility during this period since the first man had just landed on the moon. Although we have progressed scientifically there is still a captivation with this type of very spacey design and an aspiration of hope for the future.

This particular designer likes to diffuse the source of light, so that all the layers in this artichoke shade soften the harshness of the bulb. This retro design is the type which is usually produced in plastic and used to be seen in garrish oranges, often patterned and in places like the wimpygrill bar,,Woolworths e.c.t . Now it is the most ultra stylish in retro chic and can be seen in the creme de la creme of warehouse wine, Noodle bars. These are brilliant for really high ceilings as they are available in really large sizes for dramatic emphasis of space. The new dimensional pleats and textures give them a very contemporary edge.

The Arco light is a great way to make a very contemporary statement.

The Ero half chair- I think this is great and more practical for use in public places. A beautiful design and looks amazing with the little white pedestal table. Heaven I just wish I could be teleported to a 60s airport now!
This Buggle lamp has a metal structure reminescent of the cobra lamp except that it has the frosted glass ball in the centre, the pedestal again is a typical 60s design reflecting the general preoccupation with mans new frontiers on the moon.

I love these pastil chairs they are very organic in shape and this is currently a strong directional influence for 2003 .Scientist and Artist Ernst Haeckels book "Art forms in nature" dwells on the beauty of organisms and he dedicated himself to the study of unicellular organisms and protozoans for 12 years. Haeckels principle belief was in the unity of all living things and he endorsed Darwins theory of evolution.
I like this elongated two tone tubular lamp, it has a mod/ska feel and the bold circular design is very retro and now!
The cobra lamp is another example of design trying to achieve the obsession with space travel and weightlessness during the sixties.

This would be my perfect chair arms that are comfy and clean relaxed lines. The back looks 50s influences but the design retains a clean modern edge and the colour makes a bold statement.
These multifunction plastic chairs and tables work really well together and provide a variety of uses, they are very sculptural and minimilist the colour gives them a modern funky edge.
We love the splayed metal legs and the minimilist quality of this bed. I love the turquise colour contrasting with the warm wood headboard this definitely makes it my favourite choice.
Being a 70s child I love these tables, the base brings it bang up to date though.
These designs remind me of the work of the artist Miro, the randon linear effect is not overpowering and the colours seem to be very 50s influences. The designs make a refreshing change and have a technical edge.
Clean lines are everything and this particular shape makes a very stylish statement, we love the colour range.

The eclipse lamp to me has alot more design appeal than the cobra. The idea of being able to manually control the amount of light is pretty clever too!

Wonderful what you can do with wood these days! Functional and beautifully sculptural at the same time.
The beauty of transparency in small multifunctional space living is that it gives the illustion of space and light, great idea!

This polycarbonate moulded table is also a lamp when the switch is depressed
These are very sculptural solid design pieces. Definately for the rustic minimilist back to basics type of look and enough to convince you that you,ve escaped the rat race.... and its time to relax and get back to nature!
I like the idea of these lamps being monotone but they are a little too styled for my taste, a more minimilist line would be more to my taste!
As well as having a organic cell lack structure this "Jack light" is a design from Habitat and is a perfect example of the use of materials being used in an unusual way, it is way of making us look at everday objects in a new way!
I have seen this geometric patterning in sheer fabrics emerge earlier this year, it is a very vibrant refreshing change in rug design by Christine Vander Herd
This rug by Francis Bacon is chic and minimilist and would look great in an Urban look apartment.

Ero/S Chair on Pedestal - Swivel Base This is a new design from Starck for Kartell.. The Eros Chair on a pedestal pays homage to Eero Saarinen's classic "Pedestal Group" for Knoll's 1957 Collection. The polycarbonate seat strongly provokes memories 1960s futuristicdesignsTransparent, translucent pale green, translucent yellow, translucent orange, and translucent cobalt blue, these are some of the amazing colours the chair is available in at present. There is also a solid polycarbonate seat available in glossy black, glossy white, Kartell red, and metallic gray.
